I didn't know Liz before this week. What a pain!!!
My wife slipped coming out of the lake, and ended up in the emergency department. The doctor told us she had a fractured ankle. Luckily one of our neighbors is an orthopedic surgeon, she was nice enough to make a house call to look at the X-rays, and told us that Maureen also had a Lisfranc fracture. A bone above the arch in her foot is broken, and will require surgery to attached a small plate with screws to repair the break. So rather than heading to Vermont this weekend, we will be camping at St. Vincent Hospital Friday afternoon.
My regrets for missing Vermont, hope you all have a great weekend.
The Lisfranc injury is named for the French surgeon Jacques Lisfranc in Napoleon’s army. The original injury described by Lisfranc usually occurred when a soldier fell from his horse, but his foot did not release from the stirrup--or so the story goes.
