they mean that no sheet metal is in the way between the obstacle and the tire. they are not saying the vehicle can climb a 90 degree angle. But the tire can roll up to the 90 degree wall and if it had the traction and power should be able to go up. think of the back of a pick up bed and take a straight edge and put it against the bottom edge of the body on one end then the other end against the verticle line of the tire. I wish I could draw it here.
