I was removing a manifold set today from a 230. After I got all the bolts out I gave a test tug to see if it was going to stuck, and the intake wiggled independantly of the exhaust. Hmmm, thats a bad sign. I wiggled it a bit and the 2 manifolds came off, and were not attached. The exhaust had a square steel plate bolted onto it, using the 4 holes that would have normally gone into the intake. The 4 corners of the intake were cut away to allow clearance of the bolt heads. I brought it into the shop and pulled the plate off and the guy had tried to braze the heat riser in the closed position. Fortunately he wasnt much of a brazer and the blobs came right off. The heat riser freed right up. I sandblasted the manifold to check for cracks, and found none. She's a keeper. The intake will end up as cheap merchandise at Wal-Mart.
