They must have used some special heavy chromium or something, the same thing was noted when they "unearthed" that 1957 Plymouth Savoy (i think it was a Savoy) in Oklahoma last year. The entire car was rusty/moldy/etc, but with one wipe of a cotton rag, the bumpers were as shiny as the day they were made.
