It is also possible to weld cast iron with a torch and cast iron filler rod.
Brazing and silver soldering are good for some applications, but not as strong as a proper weld. Emphasis on the word proper.
The best way is preheated in an oven and then welded with torch and cast iron filler rod. Often the weldors stand in barrels of water during summer conditions. It is mean work.
