I read a report that over 100 moose were killed on the railroad tracks between Sandpoint and the Canadian border. Apparently they found the tracks to be a nice pathway for travel, and lacking much fear, didn't get out of the way of the trains. It's really sad that so many animals were lost due to the winter conditions. Their habitat is already constantly being modified and shrunk by developers, so it is tougher on them under normal conditions.
We are in the midst of another tremendous lightning storm right now. Lots of rain with it, fortunately.
