And I am not aware of any way to inspect it. It is either tight looking, or off as far as I know.
Maybe someone here knows a way?
I would do some more research, and ask the owner about the 5th gear history of the truck you want to buy. Maybe Dodge did fix the problem by 2001, but I do not think so.
