We had some "weather" here last night. At 4:00 pm, the sky got really dark, and the wind began to blow from the NE (always a bad sign.) The air temp was in the 95 degree range. The local bay waters are in the 60 degree range.

I turned on the local weather channel, and the talkinghead said something like, "Slight gusts, and some showers expected." HA!!!

I went out to roll up all the windows on the fleet, and the fire department pager went off.

By midnight, we had fought three transformer fires, two burning primary fires, extricated a pair of persons trapped in a car (a Mini Cooper) crushed by a tree, helped remove a large branch from a person's attic, and cleared various other trees across major roads, assisting the highway department.

During the evening, the temperature dipped to 89, and is now, today, back up to 98. The maximum wind speed, clocked by the ferry company, was 93 MPH. Over a foot of rain fell.
