Water can. Possibly, BUT,the side panels are marked "G" which I take for Gas and the opening is for a threaded cap and not a hinged lid with a wider opening as are all of the water cans that I'm familiar with. One panel is marked "QMC" and the other is stamped USA. I'm positive upon reflection that the current cap is post-issue, non-standard. What I'm trying to figure out is if the cans were originally issued painted or just galvanized because paint doesn't bond well with the galvanizing. Don
