Well, I would not pay 4000$ for that unit new. It is essentially a Century unit (see the story in the link below).
I have a Mastercraft branded Century AC stick welder and it work well. It's hard to screw-up a simple tranfo circuit design esp since I got it for less than 100$ new in a closeout sale! But I would be weary to put much money into a unit comprised mostly of discreet semiconductors knowing that the product line gets thrown around and parts availability and repair are iffy at best!
For 500$ it may be a good deal but as always; caveat emptor, YMMV, FWIW...
