Atf is good for cleaning engines etc, Iodine penetrates like crazy. We used to put a quart of atf in our varsol buckets for washing parts to keep our hands nice & soft,, of course years later we are told not to put our hands in chemicals especially hydralic fluid. OH well I am probably contaminated. I try harder now. I ran a flathead Ford for half an hour once on "soft" soap, the kind used in tire shops mixed with water, my buds thought I was nuts but it worked & didn`t visually harm anything when I tore it down. I think it is linseed soap?? My dad had told me of running heavy equipt on it when oil was short during WW2. GB
