The laser pointer is a nice feature.
Also look at the temp range and accuracy. I got one from Radio Shack awhile back without looking too closely, and it stops before it gets to the melting point of lead (which I had later decided was important to me).
Overall, they're handy tho. Remember you're measuring surface temp.
