I have winched buckskin tamarack (fire-killed Western Larch) up to 70 or 80 feet in length and 30+" in diameter with an 8000# pto winch. It's obviously easier to winch top first, to reduce drag. Chain the truck to a solid anchor and stand clear of the cable in case it breaks.
