I took a windshield frame apart. The screws in the joiners that hold both half's together were seriously rusted. I carefully tried to unscrew them...no go. I took my Oxy/Acet torch with a real small tip and heated the screws....NOT enough to change color. I then melted candle wax on them and let them cool a little. About 10 minutes later, I did it again and the screws came out like they were just put in. If you heat the fastener red hot, the wax will not wick into the threads, but rather will just burn right off.
I would give serious thought before heating with a battery as your describe. Second thought, I'll go have a cold diet pepsie while you do the heating, call me when done.
