One is for 'start', the other to 'run'. Common for the start side to die, then it will start just as you let off the key from the start position. You'll crank a while, give up, let off the key, and vroom. Guess it has no prob after all? You might not even realize that it's bad unless you pay close attention.
Then, some Chrysler ignition boxes only use 4 wires instead of 5, so the whole start side is left hanging.
