It's not just the skin that holds the hinge. There is a bracket inside the door that is spot welded to the skin. The bracket can be seen if you remove the door panel. I'll bet lots of spot welds have broken. You have fixed the skin cracks, now I would recommend drilling some holes through the skin and plug welding the skin to the bracket in more places.
