There is a lower mounting boss fond on some and not on others. On those without the boss, they appear to have been factory removed, some with a number stamped on the resulting surface.
I believe you know John Smith. He talked over on the PWA forum about a special transfer case brace that was used only on the very early trucks (Click on link below). I wonder if the boss was originally for that bracket that he talked about?
