The temperature gauges in the Dodge WW II 3/4 ton military trucks typically were not electric (winterization and artic kits being exceptions) but had a sensor at the end of a capillary type tube that was installed in the engine head. These "direct read" temperature gauges are the ones most commonly used in Carryalls. A few MV dealers carry nice new repros of these temperature gauges, see Supply Line or Military Vehicles magzines for ads.
