Final plans are being made for the first ever Power Wagons in S.IN.* (*southern Indiana) This will entail a tailgate party where everybody brings their own grill and food (or take out food if you're either unable to cook, are a lousy cook or just want to spend more time drooling over the iron) on Friday Sept. 29. This will be followed the next day on Saturday, Sept. 30 with a show/swap meet at the Speedy Oiler at 2910 N. St. Joe. Ave from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The cost per vehicle will be $10 per space. This is for either a vehicle to show or a swap meet space. If you have some parts to swap out of the back of your M-37 for instance, that's just one space. Admission to the public will be free.
The show will have one trophy called the Peoples Choice. Voting will be by donations put into numbered containers. The winner will be the vehicle that raises the most money for a local charity. After the show will be an afternoon drive through the countryside unless a mild trail ride can be arranged. Then participants will have a choice. After the drive/ trailride will be dinner at a local restaurant.
Sunday morning will be a technical session at another local restaurant and everyone can feast their eyes on theese wonderful machines before heading home. The event will be open to all Power Wagons, whether they be civilian or military, Dodge or Dodge powered 4X4 trucks (this includes anything made by Daimler/Chrysler or it's predecessors), pre-1971 Dodge 2wd trucks, and dedicated military vehicles.
Arrangments have been made for a special rate at a local Hotel. The Drury Inn will offer a special rate of $59.95 for one or two people per night. You can either make your own arrangments or let me know. If I know by September 1st, I can arrange for a block of rooms so everyone can be close together for the meet. If you make your own arrangements, be sure to let them know at the hotel you are with the Power Wagon meet. The Drury Inn has a lot of amenities and caters mostly to business travelers. Pool, indoor whirlpool, quick start breakfast and so on are included in the rate. They can be contacted at (812) 423-5818. The hotel is located at 3901 N. Hwy 41
