Detergent Vs. Non-Detergent oil after dropping pan

I have a '47 PW. Ever since I got it 1 year ago I've run non detergent because I don't know what was in it before. Now I am dropping the pan to replace the gasket and will clean it out. Since all the sludge will be out of the pan is it safe to run a normal detergent oil or stick with non-detergent. THer are a lot of differing opinions around here. The rest of the engine won't be any cleaner so I don't know what could happen there. Who knows what this truck has gone through.
