Back in the 80's when I ran a salvage operation, if I bought an M151 Jeep, It had to be cut into three unequal pieces before it left the auctiuon site. This was the rule then as Uncle Sam didn't want vehicles built to his specifications on the road when that isn't what they were intended for. The M151 gets really squirelly on the road and will flip easily. There were no exceptions to the rule. Other government agencies could use them but if they sold them later, the equipment had to be cut up.
I really only wanted the drivetrains out of these anyway. The bodies went into the scrap bin as most were pretty rough by the time they got auctioned. I had a waiting list of p[eople and machine shops waiting for the Jeep engines, transfer cases and so on.
