My feeling about the Chinese invading the US militarily is that first of all, it's very unlikely, since that country hasn't engaged in any significant military operations outside its long-standing borders for thousands of years. Secondly, if they do actually invade, we'll slaughter them, with or without the help of the US army. They don't stand a chance, especially since tens of millions of Americans know how to shoot and shoot well, whereas the Chinese civilians aren't even allowed to think about guns. Lastly, and here's where a lot of guys might disagree with me, if China wants to invade Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, or Russia, regardless of whatever "US interests" (i.e. big corporate interests) might be there, I don't really care. Let whoever they're invading fight back. It's not our fight to fight.
In reality, if the Chinese wanted to severely damage the US, all they have to do is quit lending us money. Likewise, if we really wanted to hurt China, all we'd have to do is quit buying their products. The US and China are already in a situation of "economic mutual assured destruction". If any military conflict starts, we stop buying their stuff, they stop lending us money, and both countries are screwed.
