I agree with John. The 3rd member must be pulled, everything flushed and flushed and a complete inspection of the 3rd member made to be sure there is no shrapnel left inside from the broken axle. Take the time to do it right, a lot of expensive damage could still be done if there is any little pieces of shrapnel floating around.
