For what it's worth I had heard there is a program or method to prevent sniping or "trying the last minute bid" to win an item with a minimum increase in bid. I don't know if that's the case, but I just heard about it the other day. If in fact there is such a program then you weren't screwed. I've lost out on some deals in the past, and I guess the lesson to be learned is to simply bid what you think it's worth and let the chips fall where they may. Currently I just enter a maximum bid and wait for the smoke to clear. It's virtually impossible to snipe something on a dialup connection. Just my 2 cents worth!
