The way Chrysler wired all their old school vehicles main power ran thru the amp gauge. The gauge would get old and burn. Sometimes they would just burn out and the vehicle would go stone cold dead and other times they would burn up creating a minor mess under the dash. Loose or corroded connectors is a big cause of it.
