There is only the one cummins diesel available. 6.7 it is the replacement for the previous 5.9 Gearing is 3:73 or 4:10 I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong as I haven't looked recently at the new dodges. I have an 04 with the 5.9 6 speed and 3:73 and my mileage is crap. about 13 unloaded. but it still isn't broken in yet. With my gearing and the way I drive on the highway its running to high in the rpms. about 2200-2300. its best mileage is around 18-1900. I have gotten it up to 17 but its painfull for me to drive that slow and easy. and a hill just kills it. I wish I had the 3:54s my 99 had. I got 20 mpg with that without trying. it had the 5 speed. I am thinking the next truck I buy will be either the up coming lighter duty 1/2 ton with the v-8 diesel or a gas job. I only tow once or twice a year. I am also considering swaping my gears in the front and rear end out for some 3:54s and see what happens.
