I changed over many manual steering to power assist> i use the original box in each case and the modifications were only ,the pump instalation and one change on the centre link >typicaly i used old ford assisted, the type that has a ram >one end of the ram went to the frame (a bracket with me driling the holes)>the opposing end of the ram was attached to the centre link (i made a clamp type bracket) to secure it to the link>the simplicity of this system is that the valve that contols the fluid (assist)direction is on the end of the ram which is secured to the frame >thats were your lines go to >its fool proof even when it fails and you have the original steering to back you up> theres plenty of these systems around today you could source these assist units at auto wreckers and even tractor (yes I H were big on this)and many more >check it out for your self and i generally do it it for under a hundred bucks in parts
