I was going to get my brake light wire from my third brake light, but i don't know how to seperate my signals from the brake. .

Is it an adapter or does it hafta be actually wired in to make it work on my dakota?? CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE PW DONE SO I DON'T HAFTA WORRY ABOUT IT!!!
