A store has the right to make policy within the frame work of the law.
When we purchase an item, our money goes to pay for security, pay for a certain amount of theft, and pay for signs that lie to us; ie, a coat check sign that reads,
"the store is not responsible for lost or damage coats." They figure you will just believe the sign and go on your way.
As I said earlier, I never saw a security gaurd actually compare the good in the cart to the reciept. And after waiting on long lines to check out, I don't care to wait on a line to exit the store.
There are proper procedure for security personel to follow if they believe someone is shoplifting.
I am NOT willing to give up what few rights I have left for shoplifting or any other crime.
