I have a 96 F350 4x4 with 7.3 and automatic, going on 160,000 miles with original trans and motor. It has 4.10 gears and get about 12 mpg loaded and 15mpg unloaded, I pull a 12,000 lb trailer but have never had it much over 10,000 lbs.
My brothers 96 Ford F250 automatic 7.3 has 250,000 on motor and one trans rebuild.
I could not find a good used Dodge for a fair price when I bought this one, or I would be driving a Dodge.
Stick with the older Fords :)
