Hi Ken.
Well, in this case, they were checking mainly for permits, since the road I was on is a main road from Spokane. Lots of Washingtonians come into Idaho for their firewood, and they want to make sure they are paying the fees. They were directing all loaded pickups to the scale, as well, to see if we were licensed for the weight we were carrying. It looked like a line of ants bringing wood home that day. :-)
