Having spent 40 plus years fixing things i spent half that time waiting at parts counters:
1) buy the best parts you can afford name brand or
OEM reject foreign junk
2)Bring your old parts with you match them up
on the parts counter
3)reject any "opened" parts boxes or bags
you would buy a open pound of bacon so why accept a open carb kit
4)look
for a counter man who is the busiest he knows his stuff that's why he
busy savvy
5)when sending in blocks or cylinder heads STAMP YOUR S/N number
on the parts it insures that it your parts and eliminates switches accidentally
or intentionally
6)test the and thoroughly inspect the part be fore you
leave the store ie threads are good bearings fit
7) read and question
the WARRANTY ask around to see if the parts dealer does "easily" warranty
his goods
8)Measure every thing trust know one
9)when purchasing goods
from a wreckers that you have found and they are taking out for mark
the part to insure its yours
10) last but not least don't kill the parts
guy if he does screw up
