It has compression relse valves on each cylender. As you switch over to diesel the lever closes the valves and the intake from the carb. A few years ago I rebuilt the motor and didn't get the linkage right on the rod to the valves. It ran real good on gas but the compression was way to low to run on diesel. It took a long time to figer that out.
