Andrew,
Plenty of scams out there.
-Never pay up front.
-Do research on the company.
-Are they licenced, insured?
-Get a copy of their certificate of insurance. Call the insurance company to make sure it is up to date.
-Do they haul or do they broker the job out?
-Do they drop off the truck in several different locations for another truck to pick it up?
-Find out the estimated date of delivery.
-enclosed or open truck.
All these factors make a difference.
For longer hauls that I can't do, I have used Wildwood transport. They use their own trucks.
