Any wire or cable will work for grounding. I got mine at a surplus store. Or from a junk car.
And I put a moderately powerful alternator in- 12v, 65 amps Delco 3-wire. Running through the O.E. ammeter, it has only ever read 35 amps, even after having driven it through an intersection on the six volt starter. No harm to the 6 volt starter either. Ammeter usually shows 10-15 amps.
