Help With 68 W200 Clutch Master Cylinder

I purchased a clutch master cylinder for my 68 W200 crewcab.It was a core that had been sleeved with stainless and a new kit.I took the old one off and apart to use the needed spring and top.I put the new one on the truck.I left the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder disconnected in order to bleed the cylinder.I tried to bleed it but the fluid is coming out on the
floorboard.What am I doing/did wrong? Thanks and have a good day.
