That is the best one I have heard yet this year.

"If you can't handle the prices, you need to sell your project to someone who can."

May I borrow your quote? I think I might find quite a few opportunities to use it.

I don't restore trucks because I know I can't handle the prices. I don't buy $25,000 original condition trucks because I know I can't handle the prices. I don't hire mechanics to maintain my trucks because I know I can't handle the prices. I don't hire electricians, plumbers, roofers, or drywallers in the remodeling of my house for the same reason.

It is all about knowing your limitations, not getting over your head, and knowing when to pick and choose. This includes monetary limitations. If I elect not to spend $15.00 on an oil filter because I think it is too expensive, but I gladly spend $4000.00 on a mechanical governor, I have arrived at that those decisions after weighing my options. On the other hand, don't grumble when I go to sell that governor for $4000.01. "If you can't handle the prices, you need to sell your project to someone who can.

With your permission, I may even use a variation of that quote the next time Martie and I find ourselves sitting at a craft show and someone grumbles under their breath about the prices Martie has put on the primitive wooden shelves and storage cabinets she makes. She is only trying to get her money back for materials and to make a little to make it worth her time. "If you can't handle the prices, you might try the Dollar Store down the street."
