I talked to the mechanics in Sacramento & Lakewood, WA.
The engine itself is great...it's the rest of the van that's junk. If you could buy them for $1200 like the other units, they'd be great trucks to buy & yank the motor & tranny. Problem is they go for 6 times more than the earlier 4BTA trucks & for that price, you may as well go into Cummins & buy a new mill.
The next problem is that they use the newer vans on the long routes so they have mega miles on them.
Stick with the 87-88...you'll get one for $800 if you're on the ball!
I'm planning to buy 20 of them.
Can I store them over at your place?
