There are several different ways to write data to CDs. The most common way of dealing with writing individual files via drag and drop or send (in the past at least) had many compatibility issues.
If you want to send these to somebody, its best to use CD writing software. Most drives come with a bundled package like Nero. Look for such a package and head for the 'make a DATA CD' section.
