My hand winch on the tiltbed is two speed with a 14:1 maximum I think. Rated 3100# and with the snatch block (24:1) I can load a pickup in less than 15 min. Many turns of the crank, but not that hard of work per turn. I can do it faster than my buddy can set up his portable elec. winch and use that .
I do need a big arse 8000# elec. so I can drag things with flat tires or stuck brakes.
Fewer people want to borrow a trailer with a HAND CRANK. ha ha
I think I counted once for pulling about 40' of cable and it was 300 or more turns.
