I just put it together dry, so I don't have to get a new gasket every time I take it off. But then I tend to be of the philosophy that "a greasy truck is a happy truck" so a few oil drips don't bother me. On other things, where I care more about it leaking, I'll usually use a more permanent sealer on one side and a non-hardening one on the other (permatex 1 and 2) or hylomar on both sides. That way when I take it apart, the gasket will usually stay completely stuck to one side and not at all stuck to the other and I don't have to replace it. If it still leaks, and I need to make it stop, then I usually use black RTV on any oil gaskets. PTOs are pretty easy to get to not leak though since both sides are cast iron. It's the sheet metal ones like oil pans and valve covers that usually need the RTV.
