The radiator cap is a radiator cap, not a cooling system cap. The pump creats pressure, you can have pressure without flow but you will not have flow without pressure, even the flow created by gravity is measureable as pressure. Some components of the cooling systems on farm eq. is 6-8 foot above the water pump, the upper tank on our older trucks is well above the water pump, how does the water get there without pressure. Taking the radiator cap off doesn't stop the flow. Why, Chris has actual measurements, make your test and prove him wrong.
The flow capacity of the raditor is greater than the flow thru the block and pressure in the upper tank effectively goes to zero as it dumps into the radiator, The cap then controls expansion pressure only. Think of how your AC units work, how any hydraulic system works, pressure at one point in the system does not require equal pressure thruout the system.
