The bore are all the same till you get into the long block and there they are all the same just larger. The change in cubes are all in the stroke. The 218 is really a sweet motor as it will run much smoother at highway speeds and will still put out strong torque at 1200 rpm. The difference between the 218 and the 230 at working torque is nil but the difference at 55 mph is great. I ran a P18 (53 Ply) in my M-37 for 14 years and would never go back to a long stroke. Now I run an even shorter stroke 237 long block. If your motor is a good don't look back and be happy.
