I understand people have had problems with paint sticking after using soda so you may want to research real good. It has to be neutralized with vintager or something before top coating. It also leaves metal smooth so you would have to D/A with 80 grit to get the primer to stick so the headache to remove all the chrome and rubber is still there and it wont remove rust.
I hate blasting anyways. I think more gets in my eyes than on the car so I just take it to the local blaster who uses different media depending on what has to come off the metal and he knows what he's doing and doesn't warp the metal and the price is reasonable enough.
This part cost about $250 to blast. I paid that for the primer and paint.
