The WC62/63 was an adaptation of the WC51/52 to meet the Army's need for a troop carrier for the increased squad that resulted when crew served weapons such as the heavy machine gun were added to the typical infantry squad. Again, many parts were adapted from existing Dodge parts. The two speed transfer case appears to be a modification of the axle splitter on the tandem axle Dodge trucks. The bed was a stretched WC51/52 bed. Almost all the parts except the bogie suspension are common to the Dodge WC51/52.
