Did my frame, running gear,running boards, bumpers in 'Rust Destroyer' red oil based primer, then Rustoleum black over it all. No rust, after up to two years. But it's pretty soft for things that will get wear and tear- like my running boards. Just flipping the spare up into position once wore the black off the edge.
