I lived near both a big SAC base, many aerospace manufacturers and 50 air miles away from Edwards Air Force Base, B-36, then B-47, then B-52, then B-58. X-15's B-70, the rocket planes.
Those were some ground shaking days. By the late 60's or early 70's the PC'ers were starting to awake and they outlawed sonic booms...it was never the same after that...= (
