I want to share one of the most heart warming things I've ever been touched with. A friend replied in e-mail to me this Christmas and I hope his message will be passed all over America and tomorrow, the world! If you're sick and tired of plastic Santas, phoney misdirected Christmas scams, stinky wet reindeer and the terror that Christmas has become for so many today, read on:
"I want to share a wonderful gift I got this year.
I received a letter from my daughter this week, that I mistakenly opened before Christmas, explaining that I am the hardest person in the world to buy for, because I desire very little and what I want I typically go buy for myself. Consequently, she and her family decided this year they would put the effort and money they would normally spend on my wife and I towards a gift to a needy family in our name. Seems she had read an e-mail last year about a family where such a gift had become a family tradition.
So, she discovered a woman and her young daughter who had been burned out of their house and lost everything. She and my three grandchildren, ages six to sixteen, collected toys, a bicycle, clothes and other necessities, along with a substantial gift card for groceries, and took it to them this weekend. They all fell in love with the people and felt very good about the fact that the gift was appreciated and needed.
One of the best parts of the gift was that my six year old grand daughter, as they were leaving the people, asked if they could do this again next year? Wow! What a gift for her to receive, learning at such a young age that we are happiest while helping others. So, they all got the benefit of the gift, just as much as we did!
My daughter and son-in-law, and my wife and I, have agreed this will be our gift to each other in the years to come, since they, too, are fortunate to not need anything. I know we will all look forward to opening that white envelope on the tree every Christmas, and expect that it, too, will become a family tradition.

Folks, my friends, I propose to you: this marvel of beauty being further spread abroad from your own hearts and family's love might simply change the world! Gifts of love are highly contagious and no known cure. This Christmas is soon to come, but there is after that a whole year to plan for this new way to spread the love of the One whose birth is celebrated. Can we return true Joy to Christmas by following in this loving way presented here? I do heartfully believe we can!
