Jon,I suggest staying with the 318 heads unless you plan to be at such altitudes that would warrant the need for such breathing ability.All 318's from around 68'-83' came with only 2bbl carbs and this is what Dodge trucks with 318's used be it the average D-100,D-200 camperspecial,Power Wagon,or larger trucks w/318. The 318 has a fair stroke for its size and has plenty of torque in its stock form.The MOPAR purple cams are the best choice. Iwould just rebuild a stock 318 using top grade parts and do some minor tricking to aid performance like having the intake and heads polished,dual exhaust,etc. Maybe you can save enough to build the second engine as a spare.
