year-appropriate plates in CA

Just saw this in Hemmings e-weekly newsletter. California has extended the years elibible for "year-appropriate" plates to 1969. So if you can get your hands on a black plate (or yellow plate, or whatever was right for your year) the DMV will actually license it. I did this with my 62 PW and it's really cool to have the original plates.
